I love your comic above, Joanne.

I just finished listening to the audio book 1619. I didn't know the majority of our country's history with slavery. It was eye opening and I glad I spent the almost 19 hours listening to it. I am convinced we have to have conversations about our country's history that we know and that we don't know. And not just America history but the world's. We should be learning to the day we die, hopefully.

But 19 hours is a lot to ask of the average person to commit to. Many won't do it.

But a comic . . . that's a quick read.

Comics are the perfect medium to introduce history and stories that can teach, entertain, and empathize with the experiences of others. The art make comics so much more accessible that prose. We can see ourselves, when we are represented, in comics. And comics are way cheaper to create than TV shows or movies. I can't wait to read Gabo and your comic. Thanks and good luck!
