In June of 2020, just as we were getting entrenched in the never-ending nightmare that is Covid-19, I got an email from a buddy of mine. He leads game development over at Nickelodeon, and they were putting together pitches for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game. They needed an illustrator for the presentation. I jumped at the opportunity, as not only am I a lifetime Turtles fan, but I also have a long history with the brand. Early in my career, I became one of the licensing artists for the 4kids TMNT show that ran from 2003-2009, so if you ever watched that show or bought any toys or merchandise related to it, you’ve certainly seen my art. I absolutely LOVE Ninja Turtles.

They wanted the art style to be grittier and edgier than what was currently being done in the Nickelodeon shows, a little closer to the original comics. Only two illustrations were needed for the character select screen, and it was decided that those two characters would be Raphael and Rocksteady. I got right on it.
