It's been a minute since we’ve talked about how we make comic books, and this week I’d like to talk about one of my favorite pages from Sirens of the City. This one in particular was interesting because I think it shines a light on creating settings, which is one of the things Sirens is now best known for.
First thing’s first: for a book like this, I take a few different approaches to backgrounds. Most are heavily referenced. Some of them, I make up from scratch. Some are aided by 3D model. Some are straight-up traced from photos (gasp!). And some are a weird mash-up of all of the above, like this page.
