Where the heck is this week’s A Way From Here?? Well dear readers, we're giving GABO the week off to catch up on his holiday shopping. It is the holiday season after all, have a heart. In the meantime we’re gonna jump in a time machine and head back to the year 2002!

A lot of times when I’m being interviewed or on a podcast, the question is asked “where did you get your start?” There are a few answers to that question. Many times they are referring to my first published comic book, and I say it’s Spider-Man: Legend of Spider-Clan #5 (there were a few other indy books, but we’ll save that for another post). But honestly, I had been a professional working illustrator 3 years prior to that. And little known to many people…is that I drew children’s books.

Two children’s books, in fact. I Love You, Bunches (2003) and its sequel, My Most Special Gift (2004) were written by Kenn Viselman, art directed by Graham Halky and fully illustrated by yours truly. Let’s talk about them, shall we?

It’s true. I do.
