I struggled with whether or not to post pages today. Doing a book about children in tragic circumstances after the events of this week…well…you understand. Ultimately, I realized the beauty of this format is that it goes to your inbox. You can decide if you want to open it or not. You can read it when you’re ready.
Anyway, be kind to each other. And enjoy.

I saw this quote yesterday, "...in hard times beauty can seem frivolous, but take it away and all you're left with is hard times." - Paul Madonna. Sometimes, I joke that I read comics to escape. But, for me (at this time; my compassion capacity changes all the time), I want to be aware of the suffering in the world today and in me. I want to recognize it's depth and true impact. And we have to explore the history and roots of hatred and violence of we will never be able to prevent them from repeating over and over again. Stories matter. Thank you, Joanne & Gabo, for making comics that matter.
